Job Description

If you love dogs and cats and being active outdoors, this is the perfect job for you!

Working at Walden Pet Services is a great fit for reliable, organized people looking for a flexible job that enables them to care for animals. This is an incredibly rewarding professional experience. Walden Pet Services is the preferred pet care provider in the Concord area. With more than 2,000 clients since our founding in 1998, we have made it our mission to provide our clients with the highest quality pet care. We are ever-growing and are excited to expand our team.

We are members of Pet Sitters International and the International Boardings & Pet Services Association.

Where and when we work:

  • Our staff works part-time, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9:00AM and 6:00PM.
  • Staff will work 3 - 5 days per week based on availability. We require consistent availability.
  • Each staff member needs to be available, at a minimum, two weekend days per month; you select the days.
  • We provide pet care services in Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Maynard, and Acton.
  • Staff is scheduled to work in a small area; you will not be expected to work in our entire service area.

What We Do:

  • We are in the peace-of-mind business. We work diligently to maintain our status and reputation as the area's most trusted professional partners. We provide customized, reliable care for each client who may be busy working or traveling or just looking for their dog to have some fun during the day!
  • We visit clients’ homes to care for their pets. This could include taking dogs for walks, letting dogs out in the yard to play, cleaning up after pets, feeding, scooping litter boxes, providing medications if needed, and, of course, loving them and giving them lots of TLC and belly rubs! We are also responsible for providing basic home care for vacation clients, such as watering plants and collecting mail.
  • Our pet care specialists drive themselves to these appointments. You will check in and check out using our mobile app, and write informative updates with pictures to let clients know how their pets and homes are doing.

What we are looking for:

  • You must have your own insured and reliable vehicle and a valid Driver's License. You will travel to/from clients’ homes and transport dogs in your car when needed.
  • Have a modern smartphone: employees use our app for clocking in/out with GPS, sending updates to clients, and communicating with the team.
  • This is not a seasonal position. We will only consider candidates looking to remain with us for at least six months. Candidates with longer employment periods in their work history will have additional consideration.
  • You must be highly dependable, as our clients depend on us to care for their furry family members. We’re dealing with living, breathing pets, and you must ensure that visits occur no matter what. This is not a job that you can call out easily.
  • As long as it is safe to do so, we work outdoors in all four seasons.
  • Thrive in an independent work environment - time management, resiliency, and self-motivation are essential to success in this role.

What We Offer:

$18 - $25 / hour

$800 - $2500 / month

  • Room to grow with the business and take on more leadership roles.
  • We provide liability insurance, bonding, and workers’ compensation insurance.
  • We also provide the necessary equipment for you/your car.
  • Fully paid, hands-on training and Pet CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Mileage reimbursement.
  • Monthly cell phone stipend.
  • 100% client gratuity.
  • Paid time off (accrued after the initial probationary period)
