Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instructional Designer to join our team in supporting our clients in the Vienna, VA area. In this role, you will play a vital part in helping government agencies and organizations implement their most critical strategic initiatives. Your contributions will be essential in designing, developing, and maintaining instructional materials for job training products.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and design engaging and user-focused training products and curricula that are accurate, well-structured, and meet established quality standards.
Collaborate with the curriculum team to regularly update and revise existing training materials to ensure they remain accurate and current.
Consult with subject matter experts and representatives from various departments to integrate innovative solutions into training products and curricula.
Document and enhance team processes, standards, and best practices as needed.
Manage multiple projects and timelines, ensuring adherence to quality standards and processes, including Section 508 compliance and style guide consistency.
Participate in call reviews, test calls, and other quality assurance activities to assess the effectiveness of training products.
Assist with onboarding new hires, including planning tasks and providing shadowing opportunities.
Stay informed about current trends in instructional design, applying adult learning principles, Bloom's Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick's Levels of Evaluation, and other relevant concepts.
Utilize a variety of instructional design tools, such as the Microsoft Office suite, Section 508 Accessibility Tools, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and Snagit.
Conduct needs analyses, write clear instructional objectives, recommend various instructional models, and create effective learning solutions with integrated measurement standards.
Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective presentation and facilitation capabilities.
Approach problem-solving with a customer service focus.
Foster collaboration and develop strong partnerships across teams, departments, and the organization.
Attend team, curriculum, and client meetings as needed.
Occasionally lead curriculum projects, guiding initiatives from leadership down to project teams.
Take the lead on key projects and initiatives, selecting or adapting appropriate design and development models for each project.
Represent the Training team in client presentations, including delivering segments of formal curriculum redesign presentations.
Be recognized as a key contributor and leader within the team, dedicated to achieving the overall goals of the training organization.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or four years of instructional design or training delivery experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in instructional design tools, including the Microsoft Office suite, Section 508 Accessibility Tools, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and Snagit.
Knowledge of adult learning principles, Bloom's Taxonomy, and Kirkpatrick's Levels of Evaluation.
Ability to conduct needs analyses and create effective learning solutions.
Experience facilitating small group meetings and client interactions.
A customer service-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Flexibility to work occasional weekends as required by business needs.
Skill in evaluating and modifying existing instructional materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience facilitating training across multiple formats, including instructor-led and virtual training.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
Physical Demands:
In this role, you will primarily sit while performing your duties but will also frequently walk, use your hands to handle or feel objects, reach with your arms, and communicate verbally. Occasional standing is required, and the ability to lift or move objects up to 5 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
