IT Director II Location Hybrid remote in Wake County, NC : Description of Work

Salary Recruitment Range: $112,683 - $120,000 Salary Grade: DT13

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The role of the IT Director II is both an administrative and managerial position, directing work for a range of information management resources and disciplines. The IT Director II is to provide top-level, high visibility, department-wide leadership in; (1) establishing and maintaining a comprehensive portfolio of applications and services that support the department, (2) driving business process transformation (process engineering) across the department, while partnering with senior divisional leaders on continuous improvements, (3) enhancing and maintaining the departments business continuity plans, business risk mitigation and disaster recovery. The position leads Development, Operations and Process teams, working with technical resources on the implementation and management of solutions that align to divisional (business) needs. The position leads business process transformation (process engineering) across the department with the goal of increasing efficiency, improving product/service/regulatory quality and reduce operating costs. Focus includes analysis of business workflows, prioritization of efforts that lead to improvements, and reporting results against goals.

  • Thorough knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of a wide range of equipment, software, and services necessary to administer the information processing needs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of progressive experience in the related area including at least two years of managerial experience; or Associate degree in computer science or IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive experience in the related area including at least two years of managerial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
