Maintenance Technician
Location: Rockford, MI
Shift: 2nd shift
Pay: $22-$28/hour
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Rockford. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of our injection molding and assembly equipment during the 2nd shift. Your main goal will be to minimize downtime and maximize productivity by performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. You will work closely with the production team to identify and address any issues that may arise, ensuring that our equipment is always running at peak performance. In addition, this position will provide general building and grounds maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or related field, preferred
• 5+ years of experience in maintenance
• 2+ years of experience with injection molding equipment; Engel, Van Dorn, Haitian, experience a plus
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
• Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley)
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and preventative maintenance programs
• Excellent problem solving skills
Responsibilities:
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on assembly equipment, including plastic injection molding machines, robotics, and conveyors.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues on production machinery.
• Ensure minimal downtime by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and performing effective repairs.
• Collaborate with production teams to understand operational needs and provide technical support.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and documentation.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications to support production goals.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure machinery operates within safety and compliance standards.
• Train operators on routine maintenance and equipment troubleshooting as needed to ensure any quality trends or concerns are communicated and addressed promptly.
• Perform building maintenance and grounds maintenance as assigned.
Skills:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will use your strong mechanical and electrical skills to perform regular maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. You will also use your ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to identify and address issues. Additionally, if you have experience with PLC programming and robotics and automation, you will have the opportunity to apply those skills in this role.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods, handle repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds
Environmental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
