Job Description
DESCRIPTION
It's no secret that Amazon Management (Middle Mile) is evolving from outsourcing to external trucking companies to managing it in-house partnering with our Line Haul Service Providers (LSPs). Our mission is to build the most efficient and optimal transportation solution on the planet, using our technology and engineering muscle as our biggest advantage and the key differentiating factor.
Within this context, the Trailer Path Optimization team in the Middle Mile Route Planning organization plays a crucial role. This highly technical team focuses on solving complex routing problems at scale, developing sophisticated algorithms and implementing large-scale solutions to optimize trailer paths across the network.
We are building Day 1 products to route millions of freight on a real-time basis. Our services handle thousands of requests per second, make business decisions impacting billions of dollars a year, and improve ordering and delivery experience for millions of online shoppers. The Trailer Path Optimization team contributes to this by creating robust software systems that can efficiently handle massive datasets and complex routing decisions.
To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in technology, excellent project delivery skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system/software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.
As part of the Trailer Path Optimization team, you'll interact with senior engineers on a daily basis to build algorithms and maintainable systems. You'll also work with the latest AWS technologies regularly. Experience with building and operating backend applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful. This team requires individuals with strong technical skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into efficient, production-ready code.
